A Strategic Framework for Inclusive Climate Action

This Roadmap provides a clear, structured framework for stakeholders across Africa to address climate change with equity at the core. Organized around four Strategic Directions (SD1–SD4), it offers both horizontal and systemic pathways to embed gender and inclusivity into climate policies and practices at all levels.

Gender-responsive roadmap

The Gender-responsive roadmap provides a holistic and inclusive approach by integrating gender and social inclusion across all AU-GRAP priority areas, including climate finance, while strengthening cross-sectoral coordination to ensure unified and impactful climate actions. Through its strategic directions, the gender responsive roadmap outlines clear pathways for gender integration, creating the foundation for long-term, sustainable, and equitable impact across AU Member States (MS) and Regional Economic Communities (RECs).

Strengthening innovative, equitable, and impactful collaborations to ensure inclusive, intersectional, and sustainable outcomes at local/territorial, national, and regional levels

Strategy 1.1: Prioritize gender and inclusivity for equitable access to resources, and strengthen accountability mechanisms in coordination efforts for impactful and inclusive climate actions

Strategy 1.2: Support research, data collection, and data management systems for innovative practices in understanding gender and inclusivity-related issues

Strategy 1.3: Build capacity to design and implement gender equality and inclusivity initiatives at local, national and regional levels

Strategy 1.4: Establish a coordination platform at all levels to enhance collaboration, strengthen knowledge sharing, and mainstream actions for the effective integration and implementation of gender and social inclusion in climate efforts
